The governing board is active and engaged in securing the success of Empower Next Generations and its compliance with obeying tax laws, safeguarding its charitable assets and furthering its charitable purpose.  These are non-paid volunteer positions.  We are subject-matter experts with a passion for servant leadership.

Rebeca Salazar
​Executive Director 

​
Mrs. Salazar has over 40 years experience serving latinx communities via advocacy and direct service. As a Binational, Bicultural Migrant Single-mother of three, who immigrated to the United states, she faced poverty, hunger, barriers to accessing healthcare, lack of education opportunities, gender and racial discriminations and violence.   She has a passion for sharing her lived life experiences in overcoming barriers for future generations.  We are proud to have her represent us as Executive Director for Empower Next Generations.

Johnny Bañuelos
Deputy Director

​

Mr. Bañuelos is a first generation Mexican American, first in his family as a University Graduate.  He Immigrated to the USA from Mexico in the 1990's not knowing a single word in English,  years later he was able to get an Associates Degree in Robotics Engineering from South Texas Technical College, a Bachelor's of Science in in Information Technology, a Dual Master's MBA and Masters in Management from the University of Phoenix and working on his Doctorate degree in Education from the University of Houston.  He is a firm believer in quality education, good health and wellbeing, social equity and strong support networks for youth and families.

Juan Esparza
Board Treasurer

Mr. Esparza has over 30 years experience serving migrant farmworkers in the apple, cherry and blueberry seasons.  As an immigrant of color, he faced unfair wages, racial discrimination and hazardous working conditions which affected his overall health, and sense of stability. He is a firm believer in giving people a fair chance, in hard work,  hospitality and a fresh start for future generations.  He is now retired and serves as Treasurer  for Empower Next Generations.

Gloria Ramirez Santiago
Board Secretary and Outreach Director


Mrs. Ramirez  has over 20 Years experience serving Indigenous Communities throughout  Northwest Washington and Southern Mexico.  She serves on the Indigenous Health Council, is a certified peer counselor and promotora for Behavioral Health and is a well respected and trusted messenger throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Mario Bañuelos
Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion


Mario has over 30 Years experience in Minority-serving Community Based nonprofit Organizations.  His travel through 17 countries and multicultural world citizen big picture perspective lead his passion for mutual understanding, dignity and respect for all.  He currently serves on the Board  for the Association of Community Health Workers (WACHWA), the Leadership Council of Indigenous Pueblos, and the Washington State Community Health Worker Leadership Committee
